The NHS COVID-19 app will not know if the person you came into contact with had the Omicron variant. The app does not hold any information that could identify you or the person you came into contact with.

If an app user in Wales is contacted by NHS Wales Test, Trace, Protect and told that they have been a close contact of someone with suspected or confirmed Omicron variant they must follow this advice and self-isolate regardless of age or vaccination status, or the advice given by the NHS COVID-19 app.

What should I do if the app tells me I have been near someone who has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19)?.
