To work, the app uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
The app will never access your GPS location, contacts, or any other personal data saved in your phone.
The app does record the following:
Contact tracing data, including how long you're close to another app user and the date and time of these encounters. It records the signal strength of other anonymous app users’ Bluetooth to work out how far apart you are. Contact tracing data will stay on your phone for 14 days.
Your postcode district, which is the first part of your postcode before the space. Read more about how the app uses your postcode district.
App users will also be supporting the public health response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic by sharing information on an anonymous basis about whether the app, and NHS Test and Trace or NHS Wales Test, Trace, Protect, are working as expected. You will, for example, be helping us understand how many people are booking a test, or showing symptoms. By using the app and sharing this information, you will be making an important contribution to helping your community stay healthy and save lives.
